(Kahnawake –23, Kentenhkó:wa/November 2022) The Office of the Electoral Officer wishes to remind the community that Meet the Candidates Night takes place tonight (Wednesday, November 23, at the Golden Age Club beginning at 6pm.
There are two persons nominated for the 2022 Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke By-Election to replace Barton Goodleaf. Their candidacy will be made official by noon today (Wednesday, November 23, following due process by the Electoral Officer.
Both candidates will have five (5) minutes to speak to the community. Candidate’s speeches will also be available for viewing live over the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke Facebook platform while simultaneously broadcast for listening on K1037 Radio. This will be followed by a question-and-answer period after all candidates have presented their platforms. This portion will not be broadcast.
The By-Election itself will be held on Saturday, December 3, at the Golden Age Club.
